His Way Alone
There is much to say. We are at the dawn of a new day. God is at work and the world is sliding into despair. Hope is in short supply, in our land, but the Lord is abundant in his holy provision. We are not our own. We have be bought, purchased and brought into the light. We are to live as children of light. Not looking to our own interests, but to the interests of others. Not shortsighted, but with our eyes on eternity. He is the King of Kings. He is the Lord of Lords. We are the servants of the living God.
We need to recognise that he has made us for himself. We are part of a plan we cannot understand. We have not been given the key. We are in relationship with the one who makes sense of it all, but he has not given it all to us. He does not entrust himself to us, because he know the secrets of everyone's hearts. We are not able to bear all that he has prepared. We cannot face hearing everything that is to come. God is merciful and he knows our weaknesses and limitations. We are not our own, we are have been bought at a price and he lives us.
We are the ones whom God is calling to live live out his risen life. We are the chosen people, the royal hood priesthood, the people chosen according to his pleasure who he wants to be at work in his world. We are not meant to understand or to take control. We are meant to serve and be faithful in what he has entrusted to us.
He is. And because of that deep truth we exist, we have our being in him by the grace of Christ Jesus dying on the cross and giving his life for us. He is the one to whom we look. He is our hope, our ever present help and defender. He is the one. The Lord, the King, the Holy One of Israel. In him we put our trust and we walk in his ways.
We do not fear what the world fears. We are not given over to the ways of the world. He has called us to wait in him in his presence and to listen to his voice. We are attentive to the promptings of the Holy Spirit of God. We are called to be servants of the most high God and obedient representatives of his purposes in the world. We do not need to understand more than he is entrusting to us. Even then our understanding is limited to what he needs us to know. We are servants, who are becoming friends. We are not independent agents or in-charge.
We are the servants of the most High God. The Holy One of Israel. He revealed his ways through the prophets of old and most completely in his Son, Jesus Christ, the Lord of heaven and earth, the servant king who leads the way through suffering and the cross to the holy way of Jesus. The sword of Mary, the gift of God revealed in the place of pain. It is his life that we carry around in our mortal bodies. His way that seeks and serves. His hope that illuminates our faces. We are not our own. We have been bought at a price and we delight ourselves in him and in his love for us. He is calling us to himself so that we may know life everlasting. We are the ones he has chosen. This is not nearly so much about us as it is about him and his love.
He is Competent, Intelligent, Powerful and Honest. He is.
